HAPPY EASTER 2021!

Love ought to show itself in deeds over and above words. ~St Ignatius de Loyola

Jesus Christ has Risen, Alleluia!!!  Happy Easter to everyone!

May the blessings of His resurrection be upon us all!

Another year of COVID and we are still not out of the woods.  As a person with medical background, my personal advice to my families and friends, please continue to be careful, get your vaccine shots, practice social distancing and wear masks.  To all our families and friends who have lost ones in this pandemic, our hearts grieve with you and please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.  On top of this pandemic, many of us in the LOL community are of AAPI and are going through a sad state of racism, hatred, violence and cruelty.  We have to be strong and continue to pray that each one of us will be spared from these unacceptable and horrible acts.  Remember, it is not that we are different from them, it is them, who wants to be different from us.  We are supposed to live in a diverse and inclusive society.  We are all created equal and for these people who can not accept this, we have to pray harder for them and continue to spread the love within us.  Please be careful and be mindful of our surroundings.  Speak up and ask for help.  There are still a lot of people who care. For this Easter, I decided not to proceed with our Feed the Homeless events due to the ongoing pandemic.  I did not feel safe for the volunteers.  Hopefully we can do it on December for the 2021 Christmas Events.  Let us pray that this will happen.I would like to thank the donors who continued to send their donations.  Since our last events on December 2019, I have received $450.00 since late last year.  THANK YOU for your generosity.  As of today our rollover funds is $2,853.08.  Please continue to support our mission in your prayers and however you can serve the poor.  I pray that we will have our reunion soon so we can spread our love and service for the poor.  Take care, be well and stay safe.

Lastly, our dear sister, Renee, sent this letter to me a couple of weeks ago when there was the rise and unending news of the violence against the AAPI nationwide.  Please read it and take comfort in her thoughts and prayers.  Thank you Renee!

It has been on my heart to whisper this prayer to the Most High God – Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior on behalf of our Asian Pacific American Brothers and Sisters.

Dear Heavenly Father:

“Oh Lord, before we ask for anything we want to thank you for everything you have done for us.  Dear Lord we thank you for our APA family, may your hands of protection surround them and crown them with your Love, Grace and Mercy.  Father please remind them they are not alone.  We stand with them side-by-side as they struggle to understand the evil and senseless attack on their Asian Pacific Culture.  Father, we ask for you to be a fence around them, their families, their friends and to help them remember that no weapon formed against them will prosper.  Father, we thank you for who they are in this world, a proud, hardworking and loving people who are respected and loved by you and by us.  Father, you said where two or three are gathered in your name – you are in the midst. We trust and believe that your Word will never return void.

We know you have united those of us who know you as one body in Christ with many members.  May the fear be replaced with faith, May the doubt be replaced with dedication to you Lord, May the rejection be replaced with the righteousness of Jesus Christ.  May they walk with their head held up High knowing that you will be with them always.  – In the Name of Jesus Amen.  Renee Willis”

Labor of Love Family:

Our hearts go out to Asian Pacific American (APA) communities as acts of violence against APA individuals continue to rise in number and severity. After months of escalating attacks, eight people – six of whom were Asian women – were tragically killed in Asian-owned businesses in Atlanta, Georgia last week. Across the country, individuals driven by racist motives are targeting and terrorizing our APA brothers and sisters. Families within APA communities are expressing fear, anxiety, and unease for their loved ones. These violent acts and the distress they create are painful reminders of our country’s long history of anti-Asian discrimination and violence.

We stand with APA communities across the country. We condemn these acts of violence and the hate that fuels them. We believe in and support safe working and learning environments for Labor of Love events, our friends and their families.

Hateful acts and safe spaces cannot coexist. As your committed friends, we feel it vitally important to speak up and speak out about these senseless acts, to assure APA communities and staff of our support, and to let it be known that this violence will not be ignored or tolerated.  We also encourage others to seek out additional information on this issue. Several national and local organizations exist that work directly with and for these causes. Here are two:

National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum – www.napawf.org
NAPAWF – National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum

National Council of Asian Pacific Americans – www.ncapaonline.org
NCAPA | National Council of Asian Pacific Americans

We all can be examples in our respective communities by becoming informed, spreading the word, and standing in solidarity. Remember, We Are the World.
